On Thursday, January 3, heaven gained another angel. This picture was taken only this past Monday, January 1, before we left Shreveport to come home to Tyler. Andrew just keeps saying, “Grandpa was such a life force.” And he really was. Anyone that had the pleasure of knowing “Grandpa Dale” knows that he was a man with a zest for life. He loved his family with his whole heart. He was a hard worker that always made time to play. He could shoot fireworks like no one else I have ever known. He had an incredible sense of style... and a smile that was infectious. Most impressive to me was always his extreme optimism. Life threw him curveballs, as life has tendency to do... but instead of getting discouraged and striking out... he always hit them out of the park. He defined “glass half full” in his approach to life- and it was such an inspiration to me. I am thankful to have known him for the 11+ years that I did. I am thankful for the close relationship he had with my husband and the influence he had on shaping Andrew into the man he is today. I am thankful that William had a great grandfather to love on him and help to teach him to play. I am thankful for his life and the great influence he had on so many. I know this isn’t goodbye... but a see you later. “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” -Abraham Lincoln

Across the years, I will walk with you- In deep green forests; on shores of sand. And when our time on earth is through, In heaven, too, you will have my hand.
