After living a promised long life of 95 years, which began November 18, 1922, Alice Hollingsworth began living her eternal life in heaven on September 5, 2018. She was born in Shreveport to loving parents, Innocente Gonzales and Benino Palacio. After growing up in Shreveport, she lived during WWll in New York City and Seattle before returning with her husband Wayne to Shreveport, where they raised their three children. Alice especially enjoyed traveling to Mexico and California and using her bilingual gift to help others. She lived her life to please the Lord, offering to others kindness, compassion, and encouragement in the Christian faith, and guidance to always, "Seek first the kingdom of God".
In her last days, she reminisced about her parents, her husband Wayne, son Randy, Godmother Juanita, sister Andi, mother-in-law Lucille, and other family and friends who are already with the Lord. Her remaining family who are blessed to have been loved by her include her son, Richard Hollingsworth, daughter Shirley Ledbetter, son-in-law Ray Ledbetter, granddaughters Linda Ledbetter and Christina Ledbetter, grandson Eric Hollingsworth, sisters-in-law Betty Freshour and Dorothy Hollingsworth, numerous nieces and nephews, and her caregiver Rebecca Lira.
Her family appreciates the wonderful care and kindness given by Father Price, Dr. Saucier and the ER and nursing staff of Christus Bossier ER Hospital; Dr. Thomas Jeffery Bernard and his nursing staff, Healthplex Family Clinic; physicians and staff of University Health Shreveport, Misty Brower, home health nurse; and STAT Home Health.
Honoring Alice as pallbearers will be Bobby Flores, Toby Hollingsworth and Gunther Lang.
