Alvin Martinez

Alvin Louis Martinez came into this world Saturday, October 28, 1961, and departed it Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the age of 55.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rosie Sepulvado and Wilson Martinez.

Survivors include his children, twin sons, Landon Sholin and wife Jessica of Manhatten, KS and Chad

Sholin of W. Springfield, MA, and daughter, Nicole Alford of Many, LA. Four grandsons,

Bryce Sholin, Bentley Mitchell, Cole Mitchell and Elliot Sholin. Brothers, Sylvester Martinez and wife Arlene and Larry Martinez and wife Irma, all of Zwolle, La.  Sister, Charlotte Mobley of Shreveport, La.

Fiancée, Audrey Wooley, of Zwolle, La also survives him, as do his nephews, Jason Martinez and Brad Mobley, and nieces, Lisa Malmay Parker, Amy Martinez Garcie and Debra Martinez Sepulvado. Anthony Longoria, his life long friend, and, his sidekick of 13 years, Gizzy are left to mourn.

Alvin began a career in the oil field at an early age and continued until the onset of his illness. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, especially of large turtles!  He was a member of the Choctaw-Apache Tribe of Ebarb and the Sons of the Confederate Veterans.  For many years, Alvin participated in the Battle of Pleasant Hill re-enactment, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Alvin comes from a large, extended family that includes grand nieces and nephews, a great-grand niece and an expected great-grand nephew. He leaves behind many cousins and even more friends.  He was a unique person who people gravitated to because of his extreme personality.  All who knew him have personal ‘Alvin stories’ that will continue to cause laughter and tears as he is remembered.  He possessed a kind heart and would offer his help and support to anyone, often before they might ask.

Alvin was definitely a ‘one of a kind’ and he will be sadly missed.

Arrangements are with Rose-Neath Funeral Home located on Hwy 6, West of Many. The immediate family gathering will be Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, from 3 to 4 PM.  Friends and other family will be welcome between 4 and 10 PM, with the Rosary being said at 6:45 PM.  The funeral service will be at 2 PM, Monday, April 17, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Zwolle, La, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
