A service celebrating his life will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Betsy Eaves. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue. Visitation will precede the service and be held in the Parlor of the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Austin G. Templeton, age 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 13, 2018, his wife at his side at Willis-Knighton Pierremont. A service celebrating his life will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Betsy Eaves. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue. Visitation will precede the service and be held in the Parlor of the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Austin Templeton was born on November 11, 1931, to Jeanette and Clive Templeton on the family homestead in Doddridge, Arkansas. He was baptized in Bradley United Methodist Church. After high school in Bradley, Arkansas, Austin arrived in Shreveport with a few dollars in his pocket and a hard work ethic. While working at the downtown Kennedy Supply, he met the love of his life, Betty Durrett. They married September 16, 1955 and were married 62 years.

Austin was an active member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church since 1960. Through the years, he enjoyed serving in various ministries and committees and was a member of the Methodist Men. He began working for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail clerk in 1958 and eventually became the Head of Finance over Accounting. After retirement, Austin and Betty traveled extensively and enjoyed being involved in the lives of their grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Templeton; his children, Terri Templeton Woolridge and husband David of Baton Rouge, LA; Phillip Austin Templeton and wife, Mary Alice, of Shreveport, LA. Austin has four grandchildren, Melissa Woolridge, David Woolridge III “Davey”, Taylor Templeton, Wesley Woolridge and one step- grandchild, Justin Carr and wife Heidi and their daughter Charlotte.

Honoring Austin as pallbearers will be David Woolridge, Jr. “Dave”, Justin Carr, David Woolridge III “Davey”, Taylor Templeton, Wesley Woolridge, and Steve Terrill.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Austin Templeton invites you to consider a donation to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 6012 Youree Drive, Shreveport, LA 71105.
