Bertha Omega Bodenheimer Feldman

Bertha Omega Bodenheimer Feldman died in San Diego, California, on Thursday, May 21, 2020. Bertha was born in Shreveport on April 6, 1922. Her parents were Dr. Jacob Mahne Bodenheimer and Lucile Levy Bodenheimer. She was preceded by her parents and her husband of 62 years, Larry Feldman, Sr. Bertha is survived by her daughter, Vicky Bergman and her husband, Dr. Geoffrey Bergman, of San Diego, California; her son, Larry Feldman, Jr. and his wife, Susie Morgan, of New Orleans, Louisiana; her granddaughters, Audra Rosenberg and her husband, Jonathan, of San Diego, California; Erin Feldman and her wife, Tyler Phillips, of Florence, Massachusetts; Jill Feldman and her husband, P.J. Moriarty, of New York, New York and Somer Beach of Shreveport, Louisiana. Bertha also is survived by her four wonderful great-grandchildren, Parker Rosenberg, Brenner Rosenberg, Maren Moriarty and Eliza Moriarty. Bertha graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1939 and Johns-Hopkins Nursing School in 1945. After graduation, she joyously practiced medicine with her father, Dr. Jake, until his death in 1965. Thereafter, Bertha joined Larry in a successful business, Young World, which they enjoyed operating until their retirement. Bertha was a beloved child, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, niece, cousin and friend. Bertha was one of the few working mothers of her day, and she taught her daughter and son the importance of independence, hard work and personal satisfaction. She could stand on her head well into her seventies, a trick which always amazed and pleased her children and grandchildren but which drove her husband crazy. No matter what turn life took, Bertha was happy with her life and continued to try to see the best side of her circumstances and the people around her each day. She was a kind, thoughtful and loving human and a role model for our family. She will be in our hearts forever. A memorial service in honor of Bertha's life will be held at a later date.
