Betty was born February 20, 1946 in Shreveport, LA to William and Thelma Byrd and went to be with the Lord on November 26, 2018. She was a free-spirited, amazing woman with a laugh and personality that was contagious to everyone. She loved playing poker and slot machines and was an avid fan of the World Series of Poker. She was a very loving wife of 44 years, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. In the words of her husband, “She was not a fancy woman, but she was an amazing lady.”

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; aunt, Velma Terebesi; and grandson, Jeffery Austin McFerren. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Coy Ronald Chapel; children, Donna Eaves and husband Randall, Damon Chapel and wife Susan, Tanya Hester and husband Robert, Amanda Hutto and husband Wynn, and Coy “Wesley” Chapel and wife Patti; sister, Martha McDaniel and husband Truly; brother, William “Mike” Byrd and wife Vicky; sister-in-law, Carolyn Richardson and husband Larry; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces and many loving friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all her poker friends in North Carolina and all the friends who have payed respect via telephone.
