Betty Green

SHREVEPORT, LA - Betty Roberts Green passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014, after a gracefully fought battle with cancer. Visitation and Funeral services will be Saturday June 28, 2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Marshall Street Chapel. Visitation at 9:00 a.m. and Funeral at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be Betty's beloved pastor, Brother Doyce Smith. Interment will follow at Forest Park St. Vincent Cemetery.

Betty was born on Christmas Day, 1931 to Horace and Edna Roberts in Holly Ridge, LA. She was a resident of Shreveport, LA for over 65 years. She was a proud member of Oakmont Church of God, and "The Cool Group". She was retired from Brookshire's with more than 20 years of service. She loved best being with family and friends, telling jokes and laughing, listening to her husband sing gospel music, and above all, praising God with a delightful sense of humor. Betty never met a stranger and everyone she came in contact with experienced her love and encouragement. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Marlon Green; son, Ray Green and wife Opal; daughter, Denell Dollar and husband, Randy; six grandchildren who loved their Mamaw, and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Mildred Dimon as well as nieces, nephews, treasured friends, neighbors and many "adopted kids". She leaves a legacy of bravery and courage to us all on how to face adversity with faith.

Honoring Betty as pallbearers will be Cody Dollar, Ray Green, Jr., David Dollar, Charley Sawyer, Austin Green and Chris Green.

The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Moore, nurses Rita, Holly and Patty, Willis-Knighton Hospice group, Summerfield Estates Family and her Oakmont church family for the generous care, love and support given to Betty. In addition, to Ray's wife, Opal, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the love and care you gave to Mom all these years. You were truly her daughter.

In lieu of flowers our Mom would be honored to have memorials made to Oakmont Church of God, "The Cool Group" or to Willis-Knighton Hospice Group.
