Bossier City, LA - Funeral services for Betty H. Garner will be 1 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Brian Opdroek of Shreveport Community Church. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery, Haughton, LA. Visitation will be just prior to the service on Friday, beginning at 12 p.m. Betty was born April 28, 1938 in Ripley, TN to Junius and Victoria Lee and died August 28, 2017 in Shreveport, LA. She was a member of Shreveport Community Church and of the Wise and Wonderful at the church. She had worked for Western Electric as a line operator. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Larry Burks and Darryl Garner; daughter, Joanna Cooksey and stepdaughter, Linda Warman. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah L. Thuringer and Stan Golas of Bossier City, LA; sisters, Mary Francis Neighbors of Hornbeak, TN, Joyce Pegg and Patricia Woodard and husband, Jeff of Ripley, TN; brother, Dennis R. Lee and wife, Lynne of Ripley, TN; stepson, Gary Garner of Dallas, TX; stepdaughter, Debbie Park of Dallas, TX; sons-in-law, Vernon Cooksey of Bossier City, LA and Rick Warman of Houston, TX; special grandchildren, Justin Paul Thuringer, Cory Cooksey, Suzie Golas and Rachel and Caroline Warman; a number of step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
