Funeral Services for Mrs. Bobbie Lois Rogers Mannies Hunter were held at 11:30 AM Saturday October 18th 2014 at her church home, First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, LA. The service were officiated by Pastor Kathy Fitzhugh, visitation were 10:30 AM until the start of service and the internment followed at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Hunter was born October 20, 1927 in Stamps, Arkansas, to Coburn & Vera Foster Rogers and passed peacefully surrounded by her family on October 15, 2014 in Mansfield, Louisiana where she spent the majority of her life as a resident, wife, mother, grandmother, politician and civic leader, staple in the community, and most recently great grandmother. Bobbie was married to Wallace Rushing "Peck" Mannies and upon his passing filled his unexpired term in office as DeSoto Parish Tax Assessor, which in turn lead to her running for Tax Assessor and later retiring from public office. Before retiring she married Charles C. Hunter who she spent the next 28 years of her life with, retired, traveling the world, and enjoying her friends, family, and community. She was a first class public servant who was active in her church, her community, and a member of a host of civic, religious, and charitable organizations, and stayed busy with her grandchildren running the roads, ball games, skating, movies, out to eat, school functions, and anything else she was needed for or could do to bring them joy. Bobbie is survived by two Sisters Joyce English and husband Don, Billie Jean Lampkin, and a sister in law Jessie Rogers. One son Wallace Dale Mannies and wife Dawn. Her daughter-in-law Jena Lee Mannies. Three grandchildren Hunter Lee Mannies, Mary Beth Mannies Allen and husband Brad, and Cheryl Mannies Ragland and husband Tim. The highlights and reasons to smile in her last years, Duchess her dog that was just as much her family as anyone, and her two great grandchildren Benny Cash Allen and Annabelle Presley Allen. Bobbie survived two husbands and her youngest son Benny Roger Mannies. She saw the world, she survived her church, her lord, her community and her family. She is finally at peace after a long illness, for her Bobbie that long goodbye has come to a close. For all of us two days before her 87th birthday, on this day we shall not morn, yet celebrate such a full and amazing life, the life of a true southern lady, and say goodbye. Pallbearers include G.B. "Sonny" Hall III, Alan Yarbrough, Dan Yarbrough, Steve Adcock, Dr. Ronald Crawford, and Jimmy Stephens. The Family would life to thank Tiffany Norwood and the staff and nurses of Mansfield Nursing center. The family suggest memorials be made to The First United Methodist Church in Mansfield or The Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
