Bobby Wayne Byrne, 70, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning on May 27, 2018. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10am at the First United Methodist Church in Bossier City.  Rev. Karl S. Klaus of FUMC will officiate and Chaplain Craig Kennedy of the Bossier City Fire Dept. will assist.

Bobby was born in Coushatta, La on March 15, 1948 to Milton Byrne and Vara Carroway. Bobby served as a military medic in the Vietnam War serving in Company E with the 75th Rangers.  His decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Army Commendation Medal 1st OLC, the Air Medal, the Bronze Star Medal of Valor, the Device Combat Medical Badge and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.

Bobby married his college sweetheart, Carol, on December 18, 1968. They were best friends and were always seen together.  Their unwavering love for each other carried them to just short of their 50th Anniversary.  Bobby was a master electrician, an electrical contractor, and a member of the IBEW.  He worked as a manager at CenterPoint Energy for over 30 years and was finally enjoying his retirement days. Bobby was the happiest playing on his tractor at his farm in Mississippi, spending time with his family, tending to his lawn and hanging out with his two favorite grand dogs, TedE and Rusty.

Bobby is preceded in death by his father, Milton Byrne, and his mother, Vara Carroway, his two half-brothers, Larry Parker and Paul Carroway, and his favorite Aunt Nan Todd. Bobby is survived by his wife, Carol McCurdy Byrne, two daughters, Dr. Kayla Byrne and Emily Byrne both of Bossier City, LA and an abundance of dear friends and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Honduras Medical and Dental Missions or a charity of your choosing. One of Bobby’s strongest attributes was doing for others. We will miss his zany one liners, his quick wit, his caring manner and amazing generosity.  The family wishes to extend a sincere appreciation to Dr. Lambert at Willis Knighton Bossier as well as his critical care nurses Susan and Christopher for their exceptional care and kindness.
