The family will receive visitors prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Taylor Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Brother Randy Hales, Director of Missions at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Carolyn Brady was born on March 27, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri to parents, William Reed Barnes and Phyllis Dobson, from Canada. She lived in Independence until 1973 when the family moved to Louisiana. Being the oldest of three children, Carolyn loved BIG, with her whole heart. She was selfless and would do without so others could have. Whatever the need was, and if it was within her ability to do so, she did. Her special gift was cooking, and many will remember her for that. She baked cupcakes for school and cakes for the church homecoming. Holidays were always a feast as she prepared more than enough so all would be fed. She adored children and animals. Her heart was so big and loving. Together with her husband, they fostered many children before adopting a baby boy and later, a baby girl. Over the years, there were many beloved dogs and cats. A caregiver at heart and with many loved ones, both family and friends benefited from her service minded spirit. Tirelessly and without complaint, she would tend to the needs of several infirmed in her community as long as she was able. Her quiet nature and generous spirit, along with her Christian values, lead her to do all of these blessed things without seeking recognition. She preferred to be behind the scenes, a doer, making things easier for others. She was a devout member of the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. The Mt. Lebanon community became family. Thank you to all that they have done for her and the Brady's. We always knew she was held in their hearts and lifted in prayer. Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Brady, Steven Lyles, Mack McDaniel, James Morgan, Steve Stroud, and Phillip Towns. The family sends special thanks to Desiree Lee, Jennifer Franklin, Rashunda Beene, Belinda Montgomery, Cindy Nailes, Constance Darby, Barry Miller and Jann Huckaby of Sothern Care Hospice of Shreveport for how they lovingly cared for her this year, made life a little less complicated and her passing more bearable. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Robert "Bob" Barnes and her husband, Blanchard Brady. She is survived by her son, Vaughn Brady and wife, Shawnee Eichelberger Brady; daughter, Lisa Brady LaCour, and husband, John Eric LaCour; grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah Brady; and sister-in-law, Vaughnette Olsson.
