Cheryl Diane Mitchell Watson passed to be with her Lord and Savior on April 20, 2018 after a courageous battle with recent health conditions. Visitation will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm, followed by a Rosary. A Funeral Mass will be at Christ the King Catholic Church in Bossier City celebrated by Rev. Mark Watson and concelebrated by Rev. Rigoberto Betancurt on Wednesday April 25, 2018 at 10 a.m. A private burial will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery in Bossier City. Cheryl was born February 17, 1950, in Ruston, LA, to Cameron E. and Anna Lee Wilcox Mitchell. Survivors are her mother, Anna Lee Mitchell of Shreveport, husband of 41 years, Harvey Watson of Benton, LA, son, Scott Coburn, Sr. of Benton, LA, grandson, Scott Coburn, Jr., of Corpus Christi, TX, brother, Dale Cameron Mitchell of Lockport, LA, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her father, Cameron E. Mitchell, grandparents, George W. and Lessie Gay Wilcox of Kinder, LA, Lasker and Cora Mitchell of Ruston, brothers, Gerald Mitchell and Daryl Gene Mitchell, and sister, Marcia Darelene Mitchell Thomas. Cheryl had an abiding and deep love of Christ. She loved to read Holy Scripture, and talk about and share her faith. Her family recalls the times of her frequent charitable help to total strangers. Cheryl also had a strong work ethic and retired from the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Department after more than 20 years. Cheryl was a creative and talented person who excelled at painting and playing the piano. She was an avid supporter of the visual arts. Cheryl was also a talented writer and leaves a legacy of personal poems to her family. She had a deep love of nature and animals, and was a generous benefactor to animal protection organizations. One of Cheryl's favorite past times was gardening and she particularly adored roses. She loved her family and anxiously awaited and participated in family gatherings. Cheryl always brightened family events with her characteristic smile and unique laugh. She will be missed by her family and friends and remembered for her kindness and gentle heart. Pallbearers will be Sean Watson, John Thomas (JT) Watson, Scott Coburn Jr., Michael Mezzio, Jim Bergerman and Dale Dasko. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Watson, Rodney Watson, Darrell Rebouche, Ronald Brannon, John Wittington, and Dan Sawyer. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. David Hamm and the staff at Willis Knighton Medical Center.
