Daisy Belle Johnson

Daisy Belle Johnson, 83, of Shreveport, Louisiana peacefully joined her beloved husband and Savior on December 17, 2020. While her departure was unexpected, she will be celebrating her Savior's birth in style this year as she reconnects with her dearest family and friends in heaven. Born January 16, 1937 in DeBerry, Texas, Daisy was the third daughter of Homer and Belle Johnson. As a girl, she loved spending time with her sisters. At the age of 19, Daisy married Charles Lee Johnson on August 31,1956. Together they had two beautiful daughters, Donna and Penny. Daisy stayed home and was devoted to being involved as her girls grew up. She even won a PTA Honorary Life Membership Award for working with the Sunset Acres Elementary PTA. Starting in 1976, Daisy began working at Sunset Acres Elementary where she served as a classroom aide and then worked her way up to secretary before her retirement after 25 years of loyal service. After her retirement, she enjoyed her time relaxing with family and friends. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips to see the bluebonnets and going to the beach. Outside of time with her family, Daisy was dedicated to serving the Lord through her church. Daisy and Charles were members of Springs of Grace Baptist Church since 1959. She served as a Children's Sunday School second and third grade teacher for over 40 years. Daisy loved to fellowship with her church family. Daisy was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Charles Johnson; parents Belle and Homer Johnson; her sisters, Peggy Keel, Mary Jane Doughty, and Beverly Woodall. She is survived by daughters Donna Garner (John) and Penny Kulp (Dan); and two grandchildren, Kendall Garner and Ethan Kulp. The celebration of Daisy's life will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 1:30 pm at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, LA 71109. Memorial contributions may be made to Springs of Grace Baptist Church, 6300 Hearne Ave, Shreveport, LA 71108 or to the Alzheimer\'s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
