Dan "Danny" Millard Volentine was born August 5, 1945 in Minden, LA to Fredrick Dan and Sudie Bernice Lee Volentine. He was a descendant of early pioneers of Claiborne Parish including William and Nancy Crow Lee; James David and Theressa Hall Volentine; James Wilson and Mary Elizabeth Barnes Cobb and Matthew and Susan Frances Cranford Harmon, who came to Claiborne Parish around 1900. He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn Dianne Spurlock Volentine; one daughter, Toni Leann Volentine Chambers and husband Richard Chambers of Athens, LA; one son, James Kevin Volentine of Athens, LA; three grandchildren Morgan Lee, Madelyn Faith, and James Kaden Volentine; two brothers, Kenneth Lee Volentine and wife Beverly Volentine, Edwin "Bo" Volentine; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Danny was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda Lou "Lucy" Volentine Head and an infant brother. Danny graduated from Athens High School in 1963 and Louisiana Tech University in 1967 with a degree in Business Administration. His work career started as an analyst at the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant. Danny went into the dairy business with his dad in the early 1970s. Dan changed careers when offered a job as a loan officer for Homer National Bank and was instrumental in loaning funds to poultry farmers in the surrounding parishes. Danny went back to his first love of farming fulltime when the bank changed ownership. He bought out his dad's side of the dairy farm and started milking Jersey cows and became involved with the parish 4-H program for his children. Later on he sold the dairy farm and went into the beef cattle and poultry business. Danny was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling and saw numerous countries during his lifetime. He shared his love of travel with his family as he was always planning the next family vacation. Danny enjoyed going to the movies and watching old Westerns, Island Living and Fox News. Danny was a lifelong member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in the Crossroad Community where he served the Lord as a Deacon. He loved to discuss Book of Revelation and Biblical Prophecy. The most important thing to remember about Danny is that he loved his wife, Dianne, his children; Leann, Richard and Kevin. But he truly truly loved his grandchildren, Morgan, Maddy and Kaden.
