Diann Marie Cook Gibson

A memorial service for Diann Marie Cook Gibson, 54, will be held for immediate family. Officiating the service will be Father Rothell Price. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Diann was an inquisitive child from early childhood. She would take apart every clock or mechanical toy to see how it worked. Her thirst for technical knowledge continued when she went to work for CP-Tel in Natchitoches. With the use of a work board behind her reception desk, she was able to see how a telephone installation and its working parts were achieved. She became so proficient with this knowledge the technicians would call and ask her to fix a problem they were having with an installation. She advanced in the company and became one of their primary installers. After years of service with CP-Tel, she started her own installation business named Tel-A-Lady. She installed telephone systems in major businesses across the state of Louisiana. She retired from Tel-A-Lady and contracted out to local businesses in the Shreveport and East Texas area. Diann filled her time with her long-time companion, Bill Pierce. They had a magnificent garden and beautiful flowers. She was a talented home decorator and could take a pinecone and a piece of wood and create something beautiful. Her favorite past time was outdoor camping with her boys when they were young and walking in the woods with them. Diann is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Felix and Elsie Cook of Bellwood, Louisiana; maternal grandparents, Ludger and Maggie LeVasseur of Powhatan, Louisiana; father, Terry Rolen Cook of Brandon, Mississippi. She is survived by her mother, Barbara LeVasseur Thomas of Keithville, Louisiana; sons, Matthew Rayne Gibson of Fort Worth, Texas, John Tanner Sims of Natchitoches, Louisiana; twin sister, Deann Smith and husband, Wayne of Plano, Texas; sister, Susan Turner and Thomas Chevallier of Keithville, Louisiana; brothers, Morris Brossette of Dallas, Texas and Timothy Cook and wife, Jan of Brandon, Mississippi; stepmother, Faye Cook of Brandon, Mississippi; nieces, Brooke Collette and husband, Austin of Gainesville, Texas, Breann Smith of Sherman, Texas, Emily and Claire Turner of Stonewall, Louisiana and McKenzie Cook of Brandon, Mississippi; longtime companion, Bill Pierce of Shreveport, Louisiana; special aunt, Karen Poché of Natchitoches, Louisiana; special uncle, Sidney LeVasseur of Arp, Texas and many uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Carpenter House Hospice. Diann was treated with gentle care and compassion. The doctors, nurses, helpers and housekeeper will always be in our thoughts. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Adaptive Training Foundation, 4125 Old Denton Road, Carrollton, TX 75010.
