Graveside services for Doris Pugh Rupe, 93, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2020, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 220 Hamill St., Oil City, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Mr. Sonny DePrange.
Doris was born on October 5, 1927 to Milton and Jewel Pugh in Friendship, Louisiana and passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Doris attended Northwestern University in Natchitoches, Louisiana and later in life owned the Split Nickel Grocery Store in Oil City, Louisiana next to Buster Grant Ford Dealership.
Doris loved working in the yard and taking care of her wild birds that came to visit daily. When it came to family she was the Matriarch. Her family was everything. From her two daughters and son-in-law down to the great-great-grand daughters, she was the best. She was better known as "Granny" to all of her grands.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life and husband of 49 years, Merlin Rupe. She is survived by her daughters Lamerle Rupe, Judy Johnson and her husband Jim Johnson; one grandson, Chris Johnson; two great-grandsons, Stillman Johnson and Zachary Johnson and three great-great-granddaughters, Peighton Johnson, Kinsleigh Johnson and Brynleigh Johnson.
Honoring Doris as pallbearers will be Jim Johnson, Chris Johnson, Stillman Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Mike Partin and Charlie Partin.
