Doris Spearman

Born July 31, 1924 to Drayton and Vera Coplen Riddick, Doris was preceded in death by both parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister: Drayton Riddick, Jr. Charles Riddick, Jack Riddick, and Dorothy Shergalis. Miss Doris was 94 at time of her passing with family close by. She is survived by her daughter, Dee Spearman; four grandchildren, Mikah, Joshua, Mia and Marissa; cousins, JoAnne Copeland and Tommy Bigby; many nieces, nephews, their spouses and grand nieces and nephews as well as many second, third and fourth cousins; friend and caregiver, Beth Ray who was like second daughter; many long time and close friends and extended family. Doris lived a long and full life with many stories to tell, cards to send and piggy banks to fill. She was a strong and admirable "Southern Lady" who always knew when to leave the party. Her unending strength and faith pushed her to serve her church, family and anyone in need. Always willing to "talk" whenever anyone would call. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Rest in peace, Miss Doris, you are so loved. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Reverend Gary Melanson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside. Special Thanks from the Family: A special thanks to the Willis-Knighton Pierremont for the excellent medical attention, Live Oak for the special encouragement and care during her short stay and Aime Hospice staff who kept her comfortable and never alone. Thank you. To all who sent prayers and condolences, to our extended family members unable to be here and to church members, friends and neighbors who supported Miss Doris with love and friendship throughout her life, we thank you and we cherish each one of you. A special thanks to McKee Williams with Rose-Neath who not only supported us during this time, but has known and served with Bro. Claude for so many years. Thank you for your compassion, humor and support during this time. A special hug to Mary Lockard for keeping Miss Doris "presentable" all these years! You were a friend and member of the family. She loved you so...and so do we. Thank you for loving her enough to make her "presentable" one last time.
