Dorothy McDurmond

Graveside services for Dorothy LaJuan McDurmond, age 85 will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2019 at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens in Vivian, LA with Rev. Richard Beeman officiating. There will be a time of visitation on Monday, Dec. 23rd from 11:30-1:30 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 705 S. Spruce Street, Vivian, LA. Dorothy was born in Vivian, LA on January 11, 1934 to Hugh Herman Gryder and Lois Evelyn Elkins Gryder and passed away on December 20, 2019 at the Carpenter House in Shreveport, LA. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a homemaker. Dorothy loved talking to people, country music, and loved to go gambling but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, J. W. McDurmond; son, Ricky McDurmond; sister, Betty Carter and brother, Bill Gryder. Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Nancy McDurmond of Lansing, KS; sister, Shirley Walters of Vivian, LA; brothers, Bob Gryder and wife, Margaret of Houston, TX and Horace Gryder of Tucson, AZ and a host of nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
