BOSSIER CITY, LA - Services for Dr. Otis Cox, 86, will be held at 2:00 p.m. November 8, 2018, at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel, Bossier City, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Harrell Shelton. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery, Bossier City, LA. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Dr. Cox was born August 16, 1932, in Chase, LA to Willie Otis and Bonnell Whittington Cox and passed away November 4, 2018 in Bossier City, LA. He was member of Airline Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958. He attended Furman University in Greenville, SC, and later attended Northwestern State University, where he received a Master's in Education. He then later earned his Ph.D. at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He served as a professor at NSU for 19 years. He was an avid fisherman and was devoted to his wife, Elizabeth, for 66 years.
Dr. Cox was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth McLemore Cox of Bossier City, LA; daughter, Beverly Hunter and husband Jim of Benton, LA; grandsons, Randy Wilson and Ryan Wilson, three step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Honoring Dr. Cox as pallbearers will be Eldon Ford, Steve Evans, Gordon May, Bill Nichols, Colton Hunter and Danny Antilley.
