MANSFIELD, LA-- A Celebration of Life Service for Dwena Mills Henry, 92, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Stanley High School Gymnasium, with Rev. Amador Santos of Hunter Magnolia Baptist Church and Rev. Weldon Sistrunk former pastor of Magnolia Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Stanley, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Logansport Chapel. Dwena was born September 14, 1925 in Logansport, LA to Violet Fox Mills and John Mills and went to be with her Lord and Savior October 2, 2017. She served her community with dignity and style. Dwena managed the Stanley Locker Plant along with her husband Jessie for over 30 years, and was director of DeSoto Parish Council on Aging for 13 years. Dwena was a School Bookkeeper at all the home basketball games for 55 years, was the Treasurer and past Song Leader and current Secretary for Hunter Magnolia Baptist Church, was in charge of Mt Olivet Cemetery, the Village of Stanley Clerk, Treasurer and Alderwoman, friend of library, she was the Commissioner in charge of the local elections, a food pantry volunteer, and a member of Primetimers. With all these jobs she still took time out to be the best mother, memaw, and friend ever. Matriarch of Stanley. Preceding Dwena in death was her husband of forty years Jessie Henry; sons, Vernon Henry, Bobby Joe Henry, and Doyle Henry, and one sister. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Sharon Fletcher of Stanley, LA; daughter-in-law, Gyndell Henry of Stanley, LA; son, Clifton Henry of Magnolia, AR; Honorary Son, William Roe; sister, Jewel Fountain of Atlanta, TX; grandchildren, Jody Simon, Tracey Simon, Kerry Henry and wife Dea, Lorrie Hall and husband Tommy, and Jennifer Henry; nine great-grandchildren, Ian Simon, Skylar Simon, Xavier Horton, Zach Hall, Luke Hall, Leah Hall, Bart Henry, Nik Henry, Kenzy Castaneda; and six great-great-grandchildren. Honoring Dwena as pallbearers will be Frankie May, Jim Dearman, Ian Simon, Xavier Horton, Bart Henry, Nick Henry, Luke Hall, and Zach Hall. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jody Simon, Kerry Henry and Tommy Hall.
