Funeral servicers for Edgar Morris Blankenship, 90, will be held at Spring Ridge Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Officiating the service will be Danny Williams, Clayton Dyess and Reverend Roger Morton. Interment will follow at the Spring Ridge Cemetery. Edgar Morris Blankenship was born on December 20, 1930 in Belmont, Louisiana and passed away on January 24, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was the son of David Dewitt Blankenship and Effie Claire Moses Blankenship of Belmont, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; all of his siblings, Arthur Blankenship, Ted Blankenship, Doris Blankenship West, and Myrtle Blankenship; two of his children, Edward Dewitt Blankenship and Sharon Ruth Blankenship. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Mary Ruth Dyess Blankenship; his daughter, Mary Ann Blankenship Williams and husband, Danny, and Gary Bradberry, fiance' of deceased daughter, Sharon; five grandchildren, Jeremy Williams and wife, Karen, Reagan Williams and wife, Debra, Kelly Williams and wife, Marte, Jill Williams Bland and husband, Kiley, Shara Williams Glover and husband, Kailen; eleven great-grandchildren, Tyler Williams, Mason Williams, Maddie Williams, Realynn Williams, Leia Williams, Allie Williams, Marleigh Williams, Kennedy Williams, Maverick Bland, Ranger Bland, and Lawson Glover; five step-grandchildren, Chelsie Hall and husband, Dustin, Bradley Hill, Ashley Weems and husband, Matt, Torri Bechtel and husband, Will, and Landon Webb; seven great-great-step-grandchildren, McKenzie Hill, Bentley Hall, Hunter Hall, Parker Hall, Charlotte Hill, Allie Weems, and Ty Bechtel. Mr. Blankenship served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He later was employed by the Kansas City Southern Railroad where he worked for 39 years. He was best known as PePaw and was dearly loved by all of his family and friends. He was a member of Jennings Chapel Congregational Methodist Church. Honoring Edgar as pallbearers will be Jeremy Williams, Reagan Williams, Kelly Williams, Kiley Bland, Kailen Glover and Tyler Williams.
