Edna Bowen

SHREVEPORT, LA - Edna Burrill Bowen died peacefully on March 17, 2016 in Shreveport at the age of 89. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Allen Bowen and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Burrill. Edna was born on June 28, 1926 in Greenwood, LA. She graduated from Greenwood High School and went on to work and retired from the United States Postal Service. Edna lived in west Shreveport and was nicknamed the "Mayor of Western Hills" by her neighbors. She loved to bring cakes and cookies to anyone just to brighten their day. She loved animals and had many beloved pets throughout her life. She was a long standing member of Lakeview Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Forest Park West Cemetery. Rev. Teresa McConnell will officiate the services. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
