Gibsland - Funeral services will be held for Elizabeth Nan Merritt Fields, at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Gibsland. Rev. Orvell Bryant, Rev. Bob Jameson, and Rev. Don Mabry will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, at Gibsland First Baptist Church. Nan Merritt Fields was born February 13, 1927 to Carl and Ollie Merritt in Shreveport, Louisiana. She passed away on January 16, 2019, in her home in Gibsland, Louisiana. After graduating from Byrd High School, she went on to Centenary College. Nan married the love of her life John Paul Fields on April 13, 1947. Nan, "Nana" as she was known to her family, was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana, who loved her family, her Lord, and her church. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, as well as traveling not only in the United States, but the world as well. Nan is survived by her husband of almost 72 years, John Paul Fields, sons; John Paul Fields, Jr. and wife Susan of Gibsland, LA, David Merritt Fields and wife Lee Ann of Arcadia, LA, and Mark Steven Fields and wife Ann of Fayetteville, AR. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Shellie LeDoux and husband Randal, Karen Fields, Johnnette Fields, Justin Fields, John Fields and wife Sarah, Rachel Rivet and husband Joshua, and Dr. Matthew Fields and wife Carol, by great grandchildren; Jake, Brandon and Russell Hubbard, Bradley Fields, Joshua McLain "Mac" Rivet, Jr., Charlotte and Parker Fields, and Ashlan and Josh Fields, by great-great grandchildren Kasyn, Scarlett, and Ava, her sisters-in-law Eva Deil Mabry and husband Don and Lawanna Fields, and by a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Pallbearers will be Randal LeDoux, John Fields, Justin Fields, Joshua Rivet, Dr. Matthew Fields, Jake Hubbard, Brandon Hubbard, Russell Hubbard, and Brandley Fields. The family would like to thank Julie Noble, Celeste Blank, Martha LeFeaux, Wendy Pyles and Kim Payne for the care and love they gave to Nan. And to thank her Hospice care givers Britney Avery and Regina Morris as well.
