Emma Bodron Campbell

Emma Bodron Campbell, 97, was born on November 1, 1923 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Milhim and Azizi Bodron and passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. After graduation from C.E. Byrd High School, Emma worked at her parents' downtown general store on Texas Ave., and later at Barksdale Air Force Base, where she met her husband, Capt. Kenneth Campbell. They married in 1958 and had their son, Brett, in 1960. The family moved to San Antonio in 1966 and she worked at Lackland Air Force Base and Brooke Army Medical Center as a transcriptionist for many years. She moved back to Shreveport after Ken's death to live with her sisters, Nora and Dorothy. Upon their passing, she moved to The Glen where she was known for dressing beautifully and participating in social activities including concerts and bean bag, with her friends cheering for her many home runs. Her beloved friend and caregiver, Betty Birdsong, shared her fashion sense and helped make her last years the happiest of her life. She loved children, doggies and music, especially Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Charles, but cherished her family most of all. Emma is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Campbell; sisters, Nora Homza and Dorothy Bordon and brother, M.A. "Buddy" Bodron Jr. She is survived by her son, Brett Campbell of Portland, Oregon; nieces, Allyson Bodron Kerins and Karen Stewart and nephews, Brian Homza, Wayne Homza, Mark Bodron and Mil Bodron. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to The Glen, 403 E Flournoy Lucas Rd, Shreveport, LA 71115. A memorial service will be held in San Antonio, Texas at a later date.
