Funeral services for Eugene Allen, 97, will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Minden, LA with Rev. Bill Crider officiating. Interment will follow at Minden Cemetery in Minden under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. til service time Friday at the church. Mr. Allen passed away March 16, 2016, in Shreveport, LA. He was born in Bessemer, Alabama and was a part of the greatest generation having served his country in the United States Air Corps during WWII. Mr. Allen was a member of First Baptist Church of Minden for over 75 years. He served as a Sunday School Director and was a lifetime deacon. He owned and operated Al-N-Way Cleaners in Minden for 33 years. He was a devoted son, son-in-law, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. Eugene Allen was a former President of Minden Chamber of Commerce and Minden's Young Man of the year. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by: his parents: Eugene and Virgie Caskey Allen and stepfather W.S. Allen. His brothers: A.W. Allen, J.P. Allen, Leon Allen, and Harold Allen. His sister: Margaret Stamm and his wife of 64 years: Maxine Williams Allen. He is survived by his son: Jerry Allen and wife Julia of New Orleans, LA; his daughter Janet Allen Rush of Natchitoches, LA, grandchildren: Jeannie and Tracy Pevy, Jennifer and Clayton Long, Jessica and Tim Lee, Jay and Miranda Allen, Brandon Wilburn, Jana and Shannon Collum; great grandchildren: Tyler and Thomas Pevy, Courtney Woodard and husband Jacob, Abby Long, Laken, Erin, and Bradie Lee, Hunter, Addalynn, and Anniston Allen, Max Daeson Wilburn, Lannon and Emma Claire Collum; great great granddaughter: Zoe Woodard. Pallbearers will be Jay Allen, Clayton Long, Tracy Pevy, Shannon Collum, Jacob Woodard, and Tim Lee. Honorary pallbearer will be Brandon M. Wilburn. The family would like to give special thanks to the employees of Spring Lake Guest Care in Shreveport, LA for the care they gave Mr. Allen for over 6 years.
