A Celebration of Life for Frances Martin Barrish, 86, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Pastor John Lary officiating. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Frances entered her heavenly home and met face to face with her Lord and Savior on December 6, 2018. She was born on May 6, 1932 in Choudrant, LA to Preston and Blanche Martin. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church and Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was an extremely accomplished pianist. She played for church services, Sunday school, and family gatherings. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s school events and other activities they were involved in. Frances was the beloved wife of Randall Barrish for 46 years and loving mother of Randy, Rebecca, and Karen. Frances loved Jesus immensely and her family deeply. She always put her family first as well as other loved ones and everyone could count on her because she was our rock. She was an inspiration to everyone she met. Frances taught us kindness, love, humility, acceptance, respect, forgiveness, dignity, and a sense of humor. She looked for the good in each person and found that good quality in everyone. Frances recognized that serving others enriched the giving soul. She taught us what it means to be an incredible mother, grandmother, great grandmother and the greatest gift of unconditional love. Her last words to her family and friends were always “I Love You”. She knew how to be true and loyal to everyone with her generous and giving soul. Frances truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, spending time with her beloved family, chatting with friends, reading and watching Hallmark movies along with LSU, Saints and Dallas football games. She was a homemaker and worked at Bell South and Sears after graduating from C.E. Byrd High School in her earlier years and had the pleasure of raising her children for the majority of the years.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Randall Barrish; daughter, Diane Barrish Smith; three grandchildren; siblings, Geraldine Toups, Fern Martin, Pat Martin, Claude Martin, and Harry Martin; and a son-in-law. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Randy Barrish and wife Gwen; daughters, Rebecca Watson and Karen Phillips and husband Kenny; grandchildren, Kristen Phillips, Katie Phillips, Karoline Phillips, Zach Watson, Peighton Watson, Steve Barrish, Ryan Barrish, Holly Smith, Kim Prewitt and Randy Clements; sister, Betty Jo Snead; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Toups and Loren Barrish.

Frances will be remembered for her sweet spirit, positive attitude, loving and caring personality, making others feel good about themselves, never giving up, and standing behind her family and always giving encouragement and support.

Pallbearers will be Zach Watson, Jay Toups, Eric Toups, Jeff Toups, Steve Barrish, Zeke Toups, Luke Toups, and Ryan Barrish. Honorary pallbearers will be Derrick and Preston Snead.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 9333 Linwood Ave., Shreveport, LA.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Michelle and staff of Aime Hospice and Home Health.
