Arcadia - Frances "Pauline" Detro Travis, 95, entered Heaven's gates on November 15, 2019 after a 6 year stay at Willow Ridge Nursing Home in Arcadia, LA. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her memorable life. Pauline was born to the late O. R. and Emma Giddings Detro in Richland Parish on September 26, 1924. She spent her childhood in Warden, Louisiana raised with her two sisters, Eloise and Dorothy Detro. Pauline married the love of her life, Edmond Reaves Travis on October 1, 1944. The couple settled in Monroe then Arcadia where they raised their four children, Doug, Don, Lisa and Carol. A loving mother and homemaker, Pauline was a remarkable seamstress and cook. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays. She loved to travel to visit family and leaves many fond memories of gatherings with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Pauline had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Arcadia for 57 years where she sang in the choir, taught Primary Sunday School, was involved with the Women's Missionary Union and ministering at the Arcadia Baptist Home. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. The legacy of her generosity, kind spirit and passion for Jesus will live on through her family. Pauline was preceded in death after 43 years of marriage by her beloved husband Edmond R Travis She was the devoted mother of Doug Travis and wife Teresa of Perryville, AR, Don Travis and wife Jeanette of Bryceland, Lisa Allen of Lufkin, TX and Carol Brown and husband Charlie of Arcadia, loving Grandmother and Nana to 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Dorothy Morgan and Eloise Wharton and sister in law Dorothy Travis Dunham and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather at First Baptist Church Arcadia on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 for Visitation at 1:00 immediately followed by a 2:00 Memorial Service officiated by Bro. Jeff Hoffman and Bro. Bill Crider. Interment will follow at Hurricane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Arcadia, 2249 Hazel Street, Arcadia, LA 71001 or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, 7200 Desiard Street, Monroe, LA 71203.
