Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Gayle Phillips will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mansfield, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Father Matthew Long assisted by Deacon Bill Kleinpeter. A visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Mansfield Chapel followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Highland Cemetery in Mansfield, Louisiana.
Gayle was born on March 21, 1935, in St. Martinville, Louisiana to James and Alice Duchamp. She entered into rest on Monday, January 20, 2020, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
She retired from the DeSoto Parish Tax Assessor's office as the Deputy Assessor. Gayle never met a stranger, and she always had a smile on her face and an encouraging word for anyone she encountered. Her children often say that when they would speak with friends and acquaintances, they would invariably hear them say "How's your sweet mother?"
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Alice "Butch" Hargett.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 63 years, Richard R. Phillips of Mansfield, LA; sons, Tony Phillips and wife, Tammie of Pride, LA and Richie Phillips and wife, Gina of Stonewall, LA; daughters, Kim Lee and husband, Kenneth and Missy Faust and husband, Greg of Mansfield, LA; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Honoring Mrs. Phillips as pallbearers will be Kenneth Lee, Greg Faust, Cody Lackey, Beau Phillips, Britt Hargett and Blake Hargett. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Jacob Phillips.
