Funeral services will be held for Geraldine Graham Lowe, age 86, at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia, Louisiana at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019. Reverend Donald Rudd of Quitman, Louisiana will officiate and son-in-law, Timothy Beauchamp of Plano, Texas will assist in the service. Friends and family may visit, beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Internment will follow at the Mount Temple cemetery in Quitman, Louisiana.
Loving wife, mother and grandmother, Geraldine was born on December 7, 1932 in Saline, Louisiana to U G Graham and Minnie Cockrell Graham. The first of four daughters, she was raised in the Saline community and graduated from Saline High School. A gifted musician, talented pianist, and dedicated teacher, Geraldine first served as church pianist for Linwood Baptist Church and as a piano teacher in Shreveport, Louisiana. After moving to Houston, Texas in 1976, Geraldine continued to teach piano. For decades, she instilled her love and appreciation for music and the arts in hundreds of children in Louisiana and Texas. As young artists, several professional musicians and educators of today were blessed to study piano under her tutelage. A devoted advocate of gospel music throughout her entire life, Geraldine also served as a pianist for singing conventions across the South.
Geraldine is preceded in death by her loving husband of almost fifty years, Darphus Aaron Lowe, her parents U G and Minnie Cockrell Graham, and sister, Gloria Humphrey.
Geraldine is survived by her three devoted daughters, Brenda Lowe Rudd and husband Richard of Pineville, Louisiana, Sharon Lowe Beauchamp and husband Timothy of Plano, Texas, and Gina Lowe Donato and husband Jeffrey of Frisco, Texas; two cherished sisters, Edreth Free of Tyler, Texas and Anita Cheatwood of Saline, Louisiana; Twelve treasured grandchildren, John Matthew Rudd, Rachel Rudd Martin and husband Phillip, Sarah Elizabeth Bunday, Stacy Bunday Dring and husband Johnathan, Shelby Beauchamp Freeborn and husband Lane, Kendall Beauchamp, Julia Ann Donato, Hannah Elaine Donato, and Dominic Aaron Donato, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Richard Rudd, Matthew Rudd, Phillip Martin, Timothy Beauchamp, Johnathan Dring, Jeffrey Donato and Dominic Donato.
