Geraldine Jackson

A graveside service for Geraldine "Geri" Jackson, 87, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Road, Bossier City, Louisiana. Pastor Tommy Patton will be officiating. Geri was born on March 31, 1933 in Winnfield, Louisiana and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 18, 2021. Geri went to Springhill High School and while in high school went to work at the movie theater where she met Earnest Jackson and he fell in love with her buttered popcorn. They married in July of 1950 in Springhill, Louisiana. Geri was a housewife and raised three children, Deborah, Mike and Patricia. In 1972 Earnest and Geri loaded up the family and moved to Benton to establish Cypress Inn Catfish Restaurant. They ran the restaurant together until 1984, when their son Mike took over. She was a Faithful member of Cypress Baptist Church and enjoyed playing bridge with her Sunday school ladies. Though she endured tremendous heartache in her life, her strength was a true testament to her unwavering faith. Geri is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Earnest Jackson; daughter, Patricia Jackson Tate; son, Michael Lane Jackson and parents, Richard and Minnie Malone. Geri is survived by her daughter, Deborah Lewis and husband, Delmar Ray; daughter-in-law, Donna Soileau Jackson; sisters, Bobbie Hunnicutt and Ellerine Hughes; grandchildren, Rocky Tate, Jodie Jenkins, Stacey Holder, Reese Jackson, Ashlea Kerley and Eric Lewis and nine great-grandchildren. Honoring Geri as pallbearers will be Rocky Tate, Reese Jackson, Eric Lewis, Jason Jenkins, Mason Jenkins and Zach Jenkins. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials may be made to the Cypress Baptist Church, 4701 Palmetto Road, Benton, Louisiana or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by visiting https://www.stjude.org/donate. The family would like to express special thanks Dr. Balogh and his nurses at Willis-Knighton Bossier. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through Faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God." Ephesians 2:8
