Glen Cleveland Beaird, 96, of Granbury, Texas, formerly of Shreveport, Louisiana went home to be with Jesus and his beloved wife Carolyn Watson Beaird on October 21, 2020. Glen will be laid to rest on Monday, October 26, 2020 with Carolyn at 11 a.m. in Forest Park Cemetery West, 4000 Meriwether Road, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating will be Chad Whidden and Lara Whidden. Glen was born on Jan. 18, 1924 to Charles E. and Lucille Longino Beaird. He is preceded in death by his lovely wife of 40 years, his parents, a brother, Carl Beaird and two sisters, Lavon Meek and Alva Davenport. Glen graduated from Byrd High School then attended Gulf Coast Military Academy before being drafted into Army Ordinance where he served in the South Pacific. He received the Good Conduct Medal and Asiatic - Pacifica Theatre of Operations and Philippine Liberation Ribbons. He was granted his honorable discharge at Camp Fannin, Texas on February 13, 1946. Glen worked offshore drilling rigs for Penrod Drilling Company all over the world until his retirement. Glen married his beautiful sweetheart, Carolyn, on July 19, 1980. They enjoyed traveling the country in their RV with their dog "Holly Lou." They also enjoyed country western dancing and concerts. Glen loved his workshop and was content with many projects around the house. They moved to Granbury in 2007 to be near their caring family and attended Stonewater Church. Not only was Glen a loving husband and Dad, a fun Papa, and a decorated WWII Veteran, he loved being a member of the Kiwanis, and was a 73 year Freemason at Caddo Lodge No. 179 in Shreveport. Left to cherish his memory are children: Gail Hart, Jan Hart Mark and husband, Dennis, Jeff Hart and wife, Rhonda, all of Granbury. Papa Glen loved his grandchildren Brett Hart, Erin Bassett, Courtney Ortega, Chad Whidden, Clint Whidden, Hunter Hart and Dillon Hart, Chris O'Beirne and Tanner O'Beirne. They gave him 14 great-grandchildren, who all loved him dearly. Honoring Glen as pallbearers will be Brett Hart, Chad Whidden, Clint Whidden, Thomas Whidden, Hunter Hart and Dillon Hart. Arrangements are being made by Rose-Neath Southside, Shreveport, Louisiana.
