A private graveside services for Glen Dale Speer, 85, will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana at 1:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Pastor Doyce Smith.
Glen was born on October 13, 1935 to Clair Dale Speer and Gertrude Viola Harvey Speer in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 after a long battle with dementia in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Glen was a delivery driver for Biographics in Orange County, California and served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Oakmont Church of God where he served on the Board of Directors and was a member of the choir. He was very proud to be a Christian and a member of his church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 60 years, Barbara Jean Marshall; son, Jimmy Dale; sister, Ettatreen Fern. Left to cherish his memory are his son, David and wife, Sarah Speer of Shreveport; two sisters, Letha Petrocelli of Shreveport, Joy and husband, Gene Taylor of Shreveport; David's brother, Dean and wife, Teresa Ruud of Lyman, South Carolina; and a very special granddaughter, Anna-Lisa Ruud; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice for their care and compassion given to Glen during his illness.
