A memorial service for Glenda Sue Spano will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana at 3:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Reverend Randy Goudeau. Glenda was born on March 23, 1944 in Tulare, California to Johnny Richard Hunter and Rosa Ann Hunter and passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Glenda was a graduate of Mount Whitney High School in Visalia, California. After five years of dating, she married Vincent Spano on June 16, 1971. They parented five children, Earl, Denise, James, Eric and Jamie. She worked as a retail clerk, later she and Vince started their own business together for 11 years. After selling the business, Glenda became a casino games dealer where she was promoted to supervisor after one year of employment. She held that position for many years, then eventually retired. She never met a stranger and would welcome everyone with an open heart. She thoroughly enjoyed crocheting for anyone. She held a very high bowling average. She loved cooking, traveling, cruising and living life to the fullest. She loved her family dearly and would go out of her way to make sure that they were all happy and healthy. She taught them the values of life and showed the true meaning of love, strength, courage and bravery. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jamie Sue Cox; sisters, Dovie L. Hunter and Hazel Hunter and brother, Earl Dean Hunter. She is survived by her husband, Vincent Spano; sons, Earl Wayne Spano, Sr., James A. Spano and Eric Spano; daughter, Denise Spano; sisters, Wanda J. Hunter, Betty M. Hunter and Catherine "Cathy" Hunter; brother, Wayne Hunter and 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society, 920 Pierremont #300, Shreveport, Louisiana 71104.
