Helen Chamlee

SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Helen W. Chamlee, 89, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 25, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Kennedy and Rev. Rick Kennedy. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2016 at the funeral home.   Mrs. Chamlee died Sunday, January 17, 2016 at University Village Retirement Community in Tulsa, OK following a lengthy illness. She was a Shreveport resident most of her life, retired elementary school teacher, and member of Morningside United Methodist Church. Helen was totally devoted to her family and loved singing in the church choir.   She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jack K. Chamlee. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John Stephen and Carolyn Chamlee of Bixby, OK and Thomas Daniel and Jerri Chamlee of Tomball, TX; five grandchildren, Melinda, Stephen, Brady, Briana, and Victoria; and ten great-grandchildren.   Pallbearers will be Gerald Stephens, Omer Nettles, Ben Watson, Elgy Meek, Albert Akin and Stephen Cooper. Honorary Pallbearer will be James Blankenship.   The family wishes to express their appreciation to Mrs. Chamlee's granddaughter, Melinda Sanderson and her co-workers at Family Choice Hospice. The family also wishes to express their appreciation to Mrs. Chamlee's niece, Dr. Carol Howard.
