Helen Dyess Layfield Vines

Funeral services for Helen Dyess Layfield Vines, 87, will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Progress Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Brother Heath Pellegan. Helen was born on October 17, 1933 to Edwin and Della Brandon Dyess in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana and passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021. Helen was a resident of Shreveport and worked for 50 years in Medical Transcript for Willis -Knighton, LSU and Schumpert Hospitals. She loved painting ceramics and oil painting. She was in the Shreveport Garden Club and was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church. She was an awesome mother. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Layfield; brothers, Edwin "June" Layfield and Earnest Blankenship. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Michael "Mike" Layfield; daughter, Penny Denney and husband John; and grandson, Brandon Denney.
