BENTON, LA - Services Celebrating the Life of Hollis Barham "Tookie" Grisham, 85, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel, Bossier City, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Cheryl Nelson assisted by Rev. Brad Franklin. Interment will follow in Plain Dealing Cemetery, Plain Dealing, LA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
Tookie was born August 30, 1933 in Benton, LA to Edna Lea Barham Grisham and Hollis Bland Grisham and passed away August 31, 2018, in Benton, LA. He was a retired yard master for Illinois Central Railroad. Tookie was a member of Benton United Methodist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Cypress and Plain Dealing Masonic Lodges. Over the years he had lectured an untold number of younger Masons at both of these lodges. Everything he worked at, he did to the extreme whether fishing, rose-gardening or raising tomatoes.
Tookie was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Martha Mae Johnston Grisham, his parents, sister Barbara Bearden and brother Jack Grisham. Left to cherish his memory is daughter, Barbara Grisham Montgomery and husband Ron of Keithville, LA; sons, W. Travis Grisham of Bossier City, LA, Thomas Todd Grisham of Keithville, LA. "Papaw" was also survived by his grandchildren, Mallory Grace Montgomery Patterson and husband Chase, Andrew Reid Montgomery, Madison Claire Montgomery, Elizabeth Michaelle Grisham, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Honoring Tookie as pallbearers will be James Hollis Grisham, Steve Jayroe, Bobby Leflett, Donnie Leflett, Julian Whittington and Phillip Wilder. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Pete Burks, James Covington, Marilyn and Bob McGowen.
The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
