James Baker

Graveside services honoring James Thomas Baker, will be held Monday, October 11, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Rest Cemetery. James was born November 3, 1927 to Thomas and Ellie Simpson Baker in Arcadia, LA. He passed away on October 9, 2021 in Arcadia LA. with his loving daughter by his side. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church of Metairie. James retired from Mobil Oil, and after retirement, worked as a contractor in the construction business James loved, and was loved, by everybody he knew. He enjoyed hosting family and friends at his home, whether cooking for them, or just visiting, he enjoyed being around loved ones. He was known as Morpapa to his grandchildren, who he cherished. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be truly missed by all. James is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ellie Baker, wife Ineta Hood Baker, son James Stuart Baker, and by his siblings. Left to cherish his memories is his daughter Melissa Schroeder and husband Rick, grandchildren Jacob Schroeder and wife Maria, Benjamin Schroeder and wife Krishna, Hannah Johnson and husband Michael, Abigail Kang and husband Jon, and Silas Schroeder, by his dear friend Louise Buckley, as well as one great grandchild on the way.
