James Leroy Humphreys, 77, of Westdale, Louisiana went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2020 after a hard fought battle with Cancer.
He was born to Thomas Humphreys and Georgia Arrington on July 29, 1943, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. James retired from International Paper Company in 2007 with 42 years of dedicated service.
He was married to his high school sweetheart and bride of 58 years, Juannelle "Nell" Copeland Humphreys, who survives him. James is survived by his son Chris Humphreys, daughter Jamie Williams and her husband Kirk, grandchildren Mackenzie and Miles Williams, and sisters Frances Mills and Mary Ann Jackson. James was preceded in death by his parents and brother William Humphreys.
James dedicated over 20 years to molding young men through the sport of boxing. He was more than qualified to be a mentor and coach from excelling as a boxer while in the US Army, and later becoming an AAU and Golden Glove Boxing Champion.
More important than these services and accolades, James was the epitome
of a strong family patriarch and hero. His wife, children, and grandchildren were blessed by many years of his love, guidance, and support. He was so proud of his family and didn't mind telling anyone who would listen. He will be greatly missed by all. His family is comforted by knowing he is now in the arms of his Heavenly Father.
The visitation will be held on November 14, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Kilpatrick's Rose Neath Funeral Home in Coushatta, Louisiana @ 1315 Ringgold Ave.
