Janet Mitchell

Janet Hughes Mitchell passed away in the early morning hours of August 6, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, LA. A graveside service will be Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Cemetery, 494 Bethel Rd., Logansport, LA. Officiating will be Pastor Nancy Wofforf. Janet was born on November 15, 1949 in Houston, TX, and grew up in Shreveport, LA. She graduated from Woodlawn High School. She was loved dearly by her family and friends and was known for her strength, stubbornness, endearing tell-it-like-it-is attitude and her sense of humor. She loved jewelry, precious and semi-precious stones, hats and her dog, Buz. Janet is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Hughes, step-father, Vincent DeGeorge and mother, Doris DeGeorge. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ken Mitchell; and her children, Terrilyn Eldridge, Simeon Mitchell and his wife, Tami; their daughter, Elizabeth Kristin McKnight and her husband, Donny McKnight and their children, Emily Montgomery, Lexi and Ethan McKnight, Heidi Diecedue and her husband, Joey and their children, Christian Mitchell, Julien, Roman, and Adrian Diecedue; her siblings, Gloria Hughes, John Hughes, and Michael Hughes. \"When someone you love becomes memory, the memory becomes a treasure.\"
