Arcadia - A private graveside service will be held for Jerry Wade Caskey, 80, on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Hurricane Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Hoffman will officiate. On May 3rd, the viewing will be held from 8am-12:30pm at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia. This will be a come and go event. The family will not be present, but please sign the book. The Funeral Procession will begin at 1:30pm at Rose Neath in Arcadia, followed by a graveside service at Hurricane Cemetery at 2pm. Gathering near the graveside is permitted, but please maintain a safe distance between one another. Jerry was born September 28, 1939, in Arcadia, Louisiana, to Ivan and Berta Caskey. He went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2020. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Berta Caskey and his brother Charles Caskey. Left to cherish his memories include his wife of 56 years, Katie B. Caskey, daughter Amie C. Baham and husband Bennie, son Chris W. Caskey and wife Michele, brother James S. Caskey and wife Betty, grandchildren Katelyn R. Terral and husband Thomas, Sarah Day, Austin Brannon, Courtney Roberts, Christopher W. Caskey II, and Cooper Caskey. Jerry graduated from Arcadia High School in 1958 and attended Louisiana Tech University for 2 years. He served our Country for 4 years in the National Guard. Jerry worked at the Louisiana Ordinance Plant for 12 years. Jerry's passion was carpentry. Jerry was a skilled carpenter for over 30 years. He was not just a professional carpenter, but was known as a community handy man and could build or fix anything for anyone. Jerry also proudly served on the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years and was the Chief for over 6 years. He enjoyed working in the yard and garden and of course, tending to Katie's "Honey Do's". Jerry loved life, he loved to read, and spend time with his family. He enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and visiting with people young and old. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Arcadia. Jerry was a beloved husband, daddy, granddaddy, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed by many. He adored his family, especially his grandchildren, with all of his heart and each one of them will always share and know his kind, loving, giving heart, as well as, his toughness and integrity. Pallbearers: Austin Brannon, Christopher Caskey II, Glen Kyle, Trent Ellis, Tom Newlen, Kerry Beard, and Phillip Hood. Honorary Pallbearers: Cooper Caskey, Carlton Roberts, Randy Wright, and Bennie Baham In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Arcadia.
