Funeral services were held for Mrs. Jessie "Hannah" McKenzie Toms, 80, at the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer on Saturday August 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Brian Thurman, officiating. Interment followed at McKenzie Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 8th from 5-7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Toms was born September 18, 1933 to Jessie Clifton McKenzie and Lily Louise Kirkpatrick McKenzie. She entered into rest Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Presbyterian Village Nursing Home. Mrs. Toms was a retired nurse from the clinic of Dr. Brent Campanella in Baton Rouge and a member of the First Baptist Church of Homer.
Mrs. Toms was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Alton Strain Toms; also an infant son, William Alton Toms; and one sister, Katherine Davis.
She is survived by one son, Rev. S. Randall Toms and wife Bettyna of Baton Rouge, LA; three sisters, Peggy Sandlin and husband, Terry, Mary Frances Scriber and Ruth Sherrill, all of Homer; one granddaughter Rebekah Elizabeth Meredith and husband Richard of Columbia, LA; and three great-grandchildren Rachel, Bobby and Reed Meredith of Columbia, LA.
