Joann Marie Massey Rougeau

Joann Marie Massey Rougeau, was born September 14, 1933 in Marthaville, LA, to parents Robert Allen Massey and Alma Youngblood Massey. She passed away November 6, 2017 in Bossier City, LA. She attended school in Marthaville and was Valedictorian of her senior class. She earned her Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree and Master's +30 from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. She was an educator in the Bossier Parish School System for 30 years, retiring in 1988. She taught at Bossier High School for 28 years, serving as a business teacher, Cooperative Office Education coordinator and the Les Memoirs yearbook sponsor. She influenced thousands of lives through her school and church work. She married her college sweetheart, Francis M. Rougeau Jr. on November 24, 1957. They enjoyed 42 years of love and respect until his passing on November 2, 1999. Together they raised three sons and instilled in them a strong work ethic and a desire to be men of integrity. Joann felt like her sons were her greatest accomplishment, and they were always a source of pride. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings as a teacher and in leadership roles. Her love for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ were reflected in her daily life, thru her word and deed and example. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Francis M. Rougeau Jr., her sister June Rachal Blue, and her beloved granddaughter Laurie Rougeau Bowen. She is survived by her three sons, Frank and his wife Lynn, Kevin and his wife Toy, and Dr. Robert and his wife Margaret. She is survived by her grandson Zachary and his wife Emily, granddaughters Nikki Marie Smith and her husband Kris, Sister Taren Rougeau, now serving in the Utah Salt Lake City, Temple Square mission, Lydia, Dena and Karly Rougeau. She is also survived by her great granddaughter Madilyn, who lovingly called her "Grandma JoJo", great grandson Jacob Terry and Paige Meadows and Leila Ryan Terry. She is also survived by her brother, Mr. Terry Massey and his wife Dean, many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rougeau's services will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive in Bossier City. Officiating will Bishop Dee Adams. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.   Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies.
