Joe was the second son born to Sam and Mary Maggio. The three Maggio brothers were born and raised in Bossier City. His oldest brother, Vince and wife Mary lived in Haughton. Joe and his younger brother, Charlie were business partners, running the family grocery, Maggio Brothers. They also shared the work on their rent houses, many of which were built by their father, Sam Maggio. Some of their best times were spent working on their land in Bodcau, Rocky Mount and Ivan. He loved the beauty of the outdoors and enjoyed riding around his land as often as he could. Joe Maggio was a great friend to many people and was known by all as "Uncle Joe". He was most proud of his football years at Bossier High School, where he was known as the "Scatback". The 1942 championship team at BHS still holds the undefeated record. These memories were re-lived with friends and family in Maggio Grocery through the years. Joe credited his confidence in life to his beloved wife, Grace Maggio. He'd say "She's one in a million". He loved his family and was very proud of his son, Sam and grandson, Joey. He will be greatly missed in the Bossier community that he loved so much. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Mary Maggio; the love of his life, wife, Grace Tucker Maggio; brothers, Vince Maggio and wife, Mary and Charles Maggio and wife, Sara; great niece, Melissa Rose Maggio and great nephew, Chas Maggio.
