Joe was born January 4, 1933 in East St. Louis, IL to Frank and Theresa Schutzenhofer and went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2018 in Shreveport, LA.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Frank Schutzenhofer; and his sister, Bertha Tojo. Left to cherish his memory are three daughters: Connie (Dave) Schmidt of Wood River, IL, Karen (Stuart) Talbot of Shreveport, LA, Amanda (Jerome) Lewis of Shreveport, LA; two sons: Joe (Jodi) Schutzenhofer of Florissant, MO and John (Tyrene) Schutzenhofer of Carrollton, VA; seven granddaughters: Kate Schutzenhofer, Lelia Schutzenhofer, Emily Schutzenhofer, Miranda Talbot, Madeline Talbot, Malificent Lewis, and Mena Lewis; three grandsons: Michael Tate Schmidt, Tim Schutzenhofer, and Marlon Jude Lewis; one great granddaughter: Eloise Schmidt; beloved Dorothy Troudt; and his spoiled dog, Queenie. He also leaves many nieces and nephews (to many of which he was their “Favorite Uncle”).

Joe will be remembered for his love of life, his sense of humor, and his love for his family. He lived his life on his terms with passion, love, and laughter.

Honoring Joe as pallbearers will be Stuart Talbot, Jerome Lewis, Dave Schmidt, Robert Durante, Danny Wilburn, and Dan Felicetty.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses on Three East and the respiratory therapists at Willis Knighton South.
