Arcadia – John Mosely Newsom of Arcadia, LA, entered in to his heavenly home on November 7th, 2017, at the age of 77. He was married to Arcadia High School sweetheart Tishia Ann Patterson for 57 years. Two children blessed this union, Cindy Price of Monroe and Kim Nutt married to Tim Nutt of Arcadia. Six grandchildren, Kristi Hall, Paige and Cole Price, Laura Tugwell and husband Thomas, all of Monroe, LA; Elizabeth Butler and husband Jeremy of Start, LA; and Tyler Nutt of Arcadia; two great grandchildren Rhett and Caroline Butler added to their family. In addition, he is survived by his sister Margaret Ann Newsom Waits and husband Mack Waits, many nieces, nephews, and friends who will dearly miss him.

His parents L.A. (Bert) Newsom and Mary Mosely Newsom and one sister Mary Lewis Newsom Kilmer preceded him in death.

After 20+ years of service, John retired from the Louisiana State Police as the Sergeant over the Motor Vehicle Police Division. He enjoyed every day of retirement hunting, fishing, and being with his close friends and family.

Visitation will be Friday, November 10th from 5:00-7:00 at the First Baptist Church of Arcadia. Funeral services will be held on November 11th at 10:30 at the First Baptist Church of Arcadia, where he was a longtime member. Pastor Jeff Hoffman will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Arcadia Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, First Baptist Church of Arcadia, or to the charity of your choice.
