John Springer

John Springer, age 70, died Thursday, September 28, 2017 in Conroe, Texas, with family close, and with a lot of love, after a lengthy battle of lung and health problems for 18 years. He was in Conroe Regional Hospital, but moved to his home when he died with the care of Hospice. His strong constitution, and determination to defy these illnesses, and his faith in God, helped him through critical times. He was a man of honor and loved by all, his family, friends, co-workers and clients. John was born at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston on August 25, 1947 to Richard H. "Dick" Springer and Myrtis Cook Springer. He attended Arcadia schools and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1965. While in High School he played on the state and high school class B championship teams for both basketball and football. The summer after graduation, he worked for Okan Pipeline, owned by Warren Petroleum and Gulf Oil Co. of Liberal Kansas. In his growing up years, he was catcher on his First Baptist Church Royal Ambassador baseball team, which won state championships, 3 consecutive years. He played baseball the summer after graduation for the American Baseball team in Shreveport, LA All Stars. John enrolled at Louisiana Tech in 1974 for a year and a half during the Vietnam War and dropped out to enlist in the Air Force for four years. He was honorably discharged and re-entered LA Tech and went on to earn a degree in Business administration and a minor degree in Marketing. While in the Air force, he married the mother of his children, one daughter and one son. 3 days after graduation for LA Tech, he had 3 job offers. He went to work for Warren Gas in Houston, TX where he was a shift supervisor. In 1979, he was recruited to the U.S. Department of Energy at Dutchtown, Louisiana at their installation on the Mississippi River, and was transferred to Baltimore Maryland for 7 ½ years on the Chesapeake Bay Terminal as manager, and promoted to Vice-President of the company. He was sent back to Texas City and Dallas. While Vice-President, he had a stroke, and retired. He opened his own computer services, Generation P.C. until his health prevented him from working. He is survived by his wife Linda Springer of Conroe, his son, John Thomas Springer, his daughter, Ashley Springer Corbell, four granddaughters, one great grandson, also the mother of his children, Pam. He is preceded in death by his dad, Richard H. "Dick" Spring who died December 2007, whom he dearly loved and hunted and fished, served the Lord together and always close with. He was a devoted son and called his mother every night after his father died, unless he was in the hospital. Funeral services will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston in the Family plot.
