Funeral services for Joyce Margarette Bailey will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. Father Kevin Muse of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate the service. Visitation will be held at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent.
Joyce was born on July 22, 1923 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Thomas Leroy Tatom and Esther V. Brown and passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Joyce was a member of the C. E. Byrd class of 1940. After graduating she went to work at The Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and later on moved to Centenary College of Louisiana's Athletic Department. She spent the rest of her career working as a secretary at Overhead Doors, working along with her husband, William M. Bailey, Jr. She was an adventurous woman who had many passions. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and reading. She enjoyed following the news and politics, especially The 5 on FOX and yelling, "Shut up, Juan!".
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William M. Bailey, Jr. and brothers, Bernard Tatom and James Tatom. She is survived by her sons, William M. Bailey, III and Don Charles Bailey; daughter, Carol Hughes; three grandchildren, Matthew Bailey of Connecticut, Christopher Bailey of Shreveport and Andrew Bailey of Shreveport and three great-grandchildren.
Honoring Joyce as pallbearers will be Christopher Bailey, Andrew Bailey, James Hughes, Scott Lawrence, Joe Psalmonds, James Nathan Counts, Matthew Bailey and Bob Booth.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Bourne and the staff at Christus Highland and the EMT's of the Shreveport Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the Northwest Louisiana Humane Society, 2544 Linwood Ave, Shreveport, LA 71103.
