Julia Elizabeth Lormand

A memorial service for Julia Elizabeth "Julie" Gardenhire Lormand will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 3200 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana 71111 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Pastor Matt Rawle. Julie was born on March 14, 1959 in Shreveport, Louisiana to James Wilbert Gardenhire and Billie Kathyrn Hanson and passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport in 1976. She loved the outdoors and to travel, often on the back of a Harley. She was a Christian woman, steadfast in her faith, but above all, her greatest joy was her daughter, Ashley. Julie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Ashley Gardenhire; sisters, Kathryn Askew and Jamie Duy and husband, Don; brother, James Gardenhire; uncle, Bill Hanson and wife, Sally; niece, Cristina Smith; nephews, Aaron Askew, Adam Askew and wife, Lauren, Austin Askew and wife, Chelsea and Don Duy, III and wife, Brittany and numerous cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Julie would have liked nothing more than fundraising for her daughter's drama department, so the family suggests memorials be made to MTF, INC, Mustang Thespian Foundation, 330 Marshall St., Suite 600, Shreveport, LA 71101 or go to mtfdrama.org. The family would like to thank all the medical personnel fighting on the front lines of this devastating Pandemic. Because we are currently in a Phase 1 sanctuary reopening because of COVID-19, if you would like to join us in person please wear a mask for the duration of the service, maintain proper social distancing, and take advantage of hand sanitizing stations upon entrance. The celebration of life service will also be live streamed from our Asbury Facebook page as well as on short-range radio in our parking lot on 99.3 fm. For more information about our Phase 1 guidelines, please go to AsburyBossier.org.
