Katherine Hendricks

Katherine Hendricks, 70, of Shreveport passed away peacefully at home with her loved ones surrounding her on Monday, September 21, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. A private graveside memorial service will be held at Forest Park West in Shreveport. The service details are still pending at this time. Born April 11, 1950 in Palo Alto, California, she is the daughter of the late Madeline Walker Blackwell and the late Howard Lough. At an early age Kathy decided that she wanted to go to beauty school and become a hairdresser. She loved her customers and being able to brighten their day all while improving their appearance. Later in life, she felt a calling to work in the medical field as a nurse or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). She went back to school and worked on making that dream a reality. The last job she held was an EMT at Sam's Town Casino in Shreveport where she loved going to work each day. She is survived by her husband, Cecil Hendricks, of Keithville, Louisiana; long- time life partner, Rondal "Snow" Long of Shreveport; children, Mechele Head and husband, Mike, of Shreveport and Christina Hendricks of Shreveport; sister, Shirley Andrews and husband, Jimmy, of Center, Texas; brother, Neal Keith of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie Starret of Shreveport, Matthew Head, of Shreveport and Joshua Hendricks, of Shreveport, and a host of nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.
