Katherine Louise McGill

Katherine Louise McGill ,62, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021 after a hard fought 8 week battle with COVID. Services for Mrs. McGill will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a visitation on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Haughton Cemetery in Haughton, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Jim Owens. Katherine was born August 4, 1959 in Marshall, Texas and grew up in Marshall, Texas and Mesquite, Texas. She moved to Shreveport in 1983 and in 1988 she met and married the love of her life, Calvin McGill. They spent the next 33 years raising their 10 children and loving and cherishing their 28 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She cherished many things in life, but nothing meant more to her than being Nana. Nana loved everything family. Cookouts, game nights, birthday parties or just hanging out and having fun. She was always there to treasure the moments and most importantly love on her grand babies. She never missed an event or an opportunity to spend time with her kids or grandchildren. She was always seen smiling at gatherings. Her laugh was contagious and could be heard a mile away. Mom loved everyone wholeheartedly from her kids, to her grandkids, to her kid-in-laws. She loved everyone the same and would do anything to help anyone when she could. There wasn't a person she met that she couldn't love as her own. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 33 years, Calvin McGill, of Shreveport, Louisiana; sisters, Patsy Swope of Sherman, Texas and Hazel Ray of Whitney, Texas; son, Les Davis and wife, Sheri of Greenwood, Louisiana; daughter, Heather McGill of Shreveport, Louisiana; son, Michael McCroan of Haughton, Louisiana; son, Bo McGill and wife, Cortney of Stonewall, Louisiana; daughter, Tonya Arnold and husband, Brandon of Keithville, Louisiana; daughter, Chanda Casey and husband, Bobby of Shreveport, Louisiana; son, Daniel Pope and wife, Lauren of Stonewall, Louisiana; daughter, Brittany Griffin and husband, Taylor of Shreveport, Louisiana; daughter, Victoria Woods and husband, Chris of Cameron, Louisiana; daughter, Shay McGill of Shreveport, Louisiana along with 28 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. Katherine is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Ann Martin; brother, Charles Payne; mother-in-law, Lucille McGill; father-in-law, Royce McGill and grandson, Jackson Griffin. Honoring Katherine as pallbearers will be Taylor Griffin, Brandon Arnold, Chris Woods, Tristen Davis, Brayden Davis, James Schevers and Preston Stuhr. The family would like to express special thanks to all of mom's nurses for their care and support with mom throughout her battle with a special thank you for Jake, Whitney, Andrea, Bryan and Maria for going above and beyond for mom and the family during her fight. We love you, mom, and know you're running with arms wide open to Jackson and the others we've lost.
